I don't think it will be weekly flights for long. Having taken a look at dates around Xmas and New Year, fares are:

BLK-TFS 159.99GBP 21/12
BLK-TFS 139.99GBP 28/12
TFS-BLK 139.99GBP 28/12
TFS-BLK 139.99GBP 01/01
TFS-BLK 189.99GBP 04/01!

Also:

BLK-TFS 139.99GBP 21/03
TFS-BLK 139.99GBP 28/03
TFS-BLK 139.99GBP 28/03!

I know these are only selected dates, but not many flights left at starting 35.99GBP, alot around the 100GBP mark! Great news for the airport! Bring on LPA! What does this say for LPL? If BLK can get such great results after just a few days on sale, then think what LPL could get. Shame! Anyway - more pax for BLK!

I would expect a new route to be launched this winter from BLK, maybe Milan. It would be able to offer both Ski and city break options for the airport. Can also see AMS and PRG returning. ALC, AGP, FAO and MJV carrying on. (Hopefully!)

Anybody got any news on the supposed () Do328 operator?

Anyone heard anything more about a new Do328 operation setting up at either IOM or BLK? Strong rumours here all week? Could it be to do with the STN route? IOM-BLK-STN?
All I have heard is about a new outfit called "Island Connect" that has plans for two 30seater aircraft. However, afaik, they have not been searching for D328s.

Iom - Blk

Thanks VirginBlue. The "Island Connect" would seem to tie up with the IOM linkage. I'll keep digging over here but it won't please Manx2 if it's true.

This has been happening for years on the BLK-IOM and BFS/BHD flights.

When BNWA came on the scene, it took out A2B and flykeen. Then Manx2 decided it would wipe out BNWA. Now this new airline looks at taking Manx2! Unfortunately for them, it seems that Manx2 will be more of a challenge!

Seems that JXT are getting good loads on the BHD route, and are expected to increase rapidly from Monday when LS stop their morning service to the city. Going to feel alot quiter at BLK from Monday! AMS, PRG, STN and 1/2 of BFS gone! ABZ starts!

BLK

well at least BLK wil have lots of Manx2 flights to IOM for the start of the month with TT and it seems even Jetstream are getting in on the act for two weekends. I'd heard their loads on BHD were very poor except Mondays and Fridays and a few rotations had been cancelled due to no bookings? As you say, the loads should increase with J2 going single daily. Does BLK airport publish its route stats like the IOM?

Gran Canaria flights now available on the BLK website. Don't know who the operator is though!

BLK-LPA 08:35-12:55
LPA-BLK 13:45-18:00

Everything available on the BLK website.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Anybody think that FR will announce anything from BLK soon? More and more routes being announced (Shannon, Milan, EMA etc) and more planes being ordered, surely BLK and places such as DSA will receive new routes?

Gazza, don't count your chickens yet.

I have been told that at least one route from Liverpool to that part of the world could be up and running by this winter.

This route will not be flown by GSM though.

I wasn't!

I know that LPL will be able to make that route a success if the right airline were to operate it - which, as you say, is obviously not GSM. Any more news on that Nexus kid? He was supposed to be looking at it still. Remember that news conference that went wrong a couple of months ago?

GSM could have been the right airline but their announcement of the (then) new route was after a lot of people had booked.

If it eventually sees the light he will need even more money than he did before (to tide him over the bad times) due to the public being more wary with what went on.

Daniel Reilly chooses the art deco splendour of the Marriott Hotel in Liverpool's old airport building for our meeting. The main entrance lies just beneath an angular glass control tower and its doors open onto a mahogany lined foyer. It would be a fitting place to interview a future jet-set tycoon, but at the last minute he phones to change the venue. Someone has smashed the rear window of his car, he says, so it might be better to talk at his place while he sorts out the insurance.

BLK April load factors

Rite, here are the load factors for the month of April 2007. Make of them what you will:

BLK-DUB 8052 83.3%
BLK-AMS 2735 51.3% As expected
BLK-FAO 3249 64.6%
BLK-ALC 6186(LS) 814(TOM) 67.4%(LS) 68.6%(TOM)
BLK-GRO 9448 97.7% (Its not even July yet! Beats other FR routes such as Bournemouth, Prestwick, Newcastle, Doncaster etc!)
BLK-AGP 4779 73.4%
BLK-MJV 3276 61.5%
BLK-PMI 3260 50.1% (I suppose not every route can win!)
BLK-PRG 2763 51.9% Also...as expected
BLK-STN 9249 60.5% Shame this is to leave - not bad 60%, compared to other routes.
BLK-BFS 5794 38.4% Never thought it was that bad!
BLK-IOM 1682 65.1% BIGGG increase in May. TT has all flights booked up - upto 9 return flights per day over next 2 weeks!

So there are the routes.

Airport had 62202 passengers in april, with an average of 2007 passengers per day.
Average passengers per overall flight were 61.4%.

Best performing route: Gerona (97.7%)
Worst performing route: Belfast Int (38.4%)

Lots to look forward to for the results of this month (May), but June will see a dramatic decrease of almost 20,000 as Ryanair and Jet2 pull some of their routes. Despite some of JXT and M2's efforts, the airport will have lower passenger numbers through out the summer because of the decrease.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Surely, taking note from the two best performing routes out of BLK, FR should realise that BLK is great at connecting their city destinations (that don't have trains for competition) and should seriously look at expanding from the resort. The GRO route beat DSA, BOH, NCL, PIK etc who can operate at full capacity (189 seats) whereas BLK can only offer 156.
