Can't argue with that: It was inevitable we had to agree at some stage.

R25

Good grief. I've been flying in and out of Blackpool now for 5 years - never needed R25 before! Any half decent pilot could manage with the alternatives or, of course, stop flying on marginal days. If the wind on the ground make 28 unusable fair chance the winds aloft would also be unsuitable for that standard of GA pilot.

We will lose 25 very soon ,and in fact currently if you want if for a speedy departure they are very reluctant. The reply i got from the tower you can have it for a departure if you have an emergency! Why would i depart with an emergency? Crazy

I don't think it sums up the mentality, I think the irony is hilarious! They are just saying it's not available!

I am sure, without doubt, they are not suggesting you take off in an emergency!

Well looking at next years timetable for malaga, finishes now at 25/9 , soon it'l just run the 6 weeks of the school holidays, are they trying to say nobody wants to fly out side these times, you can't expect people to fly from Blackpool, for 2 or 3 months then expect them to go from MAN/LPL rest of year, really can't see how the place is paying to keep running, they have done their best to alienate the local customers by charging the ADF, it's not as if theres much facilities in terminal, hard to stay positive about the place, when they seem to do their best to drive custom away, 4 weeks ago i contacted them about the bulgaria flights, and as of yet not had a reply. Oh well , Will always try to recommend the place to people, and do want the airport to expand, but would think a big black cloud is surely hanging over the place, ther surely can't be many more pax passing through the place than when the council had full control of it. Quite what airline the airport could attract don't know, can't see a tour op wanting to come, as much as it's needed, surely must leave ryanair really as not its saviour, but only airline that would bring not just pax, but new routes. really not trying to knock the place before i get shot down.

I think it's time to take their heads out of the Sand, bury the Hatchet, and look to getting Ryanair back, Cap in Hand.

Let's face it, they haven't had much success since. They're just floundering as things are now. And they will continue to flounder.

They just don't seem to have a clue!!

Better the Devil you know..?

Patience is now beginning to wear thin..

Absolutely no point in having Ryanair back if they are a financial burden on the airport.

I think on this occasion TSR2 that Sandgrown might have a point.

MOL is objectionable but that comes secondary, They may have been a financial burden on BLK to a point, but they made the airport buzz IMO. And when an airport buzzes other operators are likely to be interested. - So a short term loss with FR could soon turn to profit if other airlines follow.

Going back to 2006 I remember catching a flight to Malaga with Monarch, there was a Jet2 a/c on the apron along with a FR 737/800 and with the bustle of the terminal. it gave the impression of an international airport.

Mind you it's not as gloomy as the dada's and the Sandgrowns would have us believe - I flew from BLK on the 25th and the terminal was far from empty with queues for beers and other drinks.

Mind you there was Air Lingus and other pending Jet2 flights. and that I know does not happen every day like say MAN.
I think BLK has a future - the size depending on how long people are not prepared to spend, when the economy picks up, then so will BLK to some extent.
At least BLK have a niche market with second home and timeshare holders to keep them ticking over.

TSR2 - you have my consent!

Very interesting figures and to me shout 757 but hey, we've been calling that for some time and in fact the number of aircraft have reduced, never mind increase in singular aircraft capacity!

Surprised about the Jersey numbers for JUNE - I was on off those forcasting the route would be axed when according to fare prices it seemed tickets were not selling.
Don't mind being proved wrong.

Yes good to hear jersey is back next year . Is jersey served from MAN or LPL,if not bigger push by airport next year would help, can't expect Jt2 to do it all, why they don;t do something as basic as leaflet drop done by the post office thruout lancs, could create some interest, i know most people throw junk mail out, but i think, but advert for holidays/flights more likely to catch peoples eye, that what we normally get , which is for local curry house etc...
Be good to get ibiza back, from what remember it was doing similar number to jersey possibly bit more, so why not? think BLackpools niche is in doing destinations couple of times a week rather than dailies, just all we want now year round AGP, and TFS, and while we're at it a new york too!!!

Good positive post take-off. I think that in my first few post I reckoned that Blackpool airport should promote itself. The idea of leaflets via Royal Mail is not a bad idea at all.

If people are not aware they can fly from BLK - then they won't/can't.

I also like the idea of destinations being served twice a week - That frees up an a/c for other destinations without the need for another based a/c.

EDIT: Jersey.is served by bmibaby from MAN take-oiff.

As well as bmibaby operatinng MAN-JER, you also have Flybe operating daily. EasyJet operate LPL-JER 4 times a week in winter and daily in sumer.
