FLYboh - that's great - she knows the car park but thought there might be a seperate long term one. I am flying up myself next month. I wish they would hurry up and finish the terminal work!
Many Thanks

HUGE potential for long-haul and so does Boeing, hence their belief in the B787 to offer direct flights from regions to regions long-haul rather than the hub approach taken by Airbus.
Now if I read those plans right all the new structures are white and existing buildings are grey. So the new main arched building accommodates the concourse, security and duty free and gates 4 , 5 and 6. At the airside end of that to the left there are three smaller arch structures for gates 1 –3, part of the departure lounge and retail outlets. The existing building to the left looking from none airside includes the existing 12 check in desks, the airside food servery, and seating area similar as it is today.
The existing low profile arrivals hall looks like it stays as the domestic arrivals hidden behind a screened fence with the new arrivals to its right, and here in lies my question.
As yet there does not seem any construction work being done in the new International arrivals area. At the Pilots forum in March it was stated that “the International Arrivals area was continually being reviewed to ensure best practice”!!!! what does that mean. We will get around to it when we can.?
So we have a new bit tacked on to a old bit, with an even older bit disguised behind a screen fence acting as both International and domestic arrivals until we have the money to finish the job.
This is only my take on what I see, I may be completely wrong and willing to be proved so. It’s just I’ve been around BOH too long to expect anything different.
The decision was made , while a delay occured with the New Forest commission objecting to expansion , to concentrate on the departures first as this was seen as being able to bring in some revenue from new shops , restaurant and duty free . There was also considerable congestion at peak times so it was thought better to build the departure area first ( again ! )
In the meantime a lot of leveling out was done at the new Arrivals area and this is expected to start when the bulk of the departure area is finished
With the extra cash that MAG group put in it could well start sooner though
Where the domestic arrivals area is , this area is also being cleared up and when decided new " rolling archways " can be fitted into this section
I do agree it really does seem cac handed to the extreme , but i do believe eventually the end result will make Bournemouth a much better experience and not before time
were ezy considering basing a couple of aircraft in boh once the new terminal is finished. It would be good to see them add some more routes such as gla, ncl to make up for the poor times (ryanair!)and lack of domestic and city routes, ie paris, amsterdam, manchester etc
Does anyone know will the new apron / stands and access taxiways be 747 capable once all the work is completed.? I have seen DC-10's on the apron but believe the 747's to date have got no further than the old 35/17 disused runway.
Stands are configured for 737 800's. possibly could fit a 747 over more than one stand? but unsure if the taxiway through the apron would not be subsequently blocked. However, in any case the access taxiways to the apron both north and south are not wide enough for 747 under its own steam so you are probably not going to see one other than on the old runway 17/35.
Access from the south could be a bit tricky, 747's etc could never use the old apron stands because of the weight factor, the ancient drainage system would simply collapse, (not sure if this is also true for the taxiway accross the old apron)
That's why they were alway's parked on 35 & pax bused to the a/c.
Also not sure if you enter from the south if there would be enough wing tip clearance as you pass the fire base/control tower & the first stand on the new apron.
Hopefully future plans have allowed access to be gained direct from the north side??
Disappointing to see the Friday TFS Flight ditched in favour of a Tuesday One, I'm sure this years attractive flight times (Not !) had a lot to do with that decision, probably resulting in a low passenger numbers...Guess that leaves the door open for You Know who to start a Service.
Mind have you seen the Corfu flight times Dep - BOH 2055 Arrive back BOH 0405 ! Flight times from the Thomson Website.
Looks like British Midland are taking over the Onur Air flights to Dalaman this summer for Holiday company Holidays For You , first time British Midland have operated from Bournemouth
The departure time is 2020 on a Thursday and an arrival back into Bournemouth at a lovely 0540 on Friday am
Not sure what aircraft type is operating and where it is positioning in from though
Following the demise of Channel Airways in the 70's, British Midland were given temporary "custodian" rights to operate the scheduled service operation linking BOH with JER & GCI pending a full review by the ATLB as to who should get the route on a permanent basis.
Following the review, the Channel Islands route licence was awarded to Dan Air.
Whilst BD's presence was somewhat 'brief' - this year's DLM operation will not be their first (although accept it will be as the rebranded bmi)
If you look back to post 1096 you can see how the new structure fits round the existing departures terminal making for a much wider terminal than it currently appears from the photos
