I have heard nothing about the Corsair 747 coming but did hear a rumour that 2 A310's were coming, nothing else known about them yet.

Hope the Corsair does come though.

Question Fences and bunds...

Question from a Dutchman who has never been at Bournemouth before:

Is it still possible to photograph aircraft rolling over the taxiway adjacent to Parley Lane/B3073? Or do you need a large stepladder nowadays?

Many thanks for all replies!

When they extended the apron they dumped the excavated earth alongside Parley Lane to try to stop car drivers rubber necking. However the bank does not extend all the way.

Alternatively you can see over the top of the bank from the new site of the Bournemouth Aviation Museum next to the entrance to Adventure Wonderland.

There is also no need for a stepladder because the perimeter fence is still only about 5ft high. Word of advice is that Dorset Police do regular patrols around the airport & have stopped to question me on two occasions in recent months about why I am stood by the fence taking photos. But they do not move you on, which is a good thing!
(Having some form of ID on you would probably be needed incase you are considering photographing aircraft whilst standing by the fence, as you can't be too sure of when the Police might appear.)

The following link is to an image where I've done a quick edit of a map showing the location of the earth mound (red lines), & areas suitable for getting good photos (bright green areas)

Hope it is of some help to you 'Stratofreighter'

And you can see Adveture Wonderland and its carpark just below the centre of the red line. The car park (the light coloured parallel lines) is where the Bournemouth Aviation Museum is now situated where you can see over the top of the mound.

Yes, everyday progress is being made and will be till its finished.

They've just opened the 'interim' entrance and are now removing the 'temporary' entrance so that the main bit can be built forward.

This is the "rapid" build stage, whereby a lot happens in a short space of time. Then it'll seem to go slow again as work goes on behind the scenes, just like before the steelwork went up.

The 4 empty morning slots left by the dropping of PIK from BOH have now been filled by the BOH plane operating the daily EDI flight on those days. This means that there will be no new route in these slots and now EDI has 4 empty evening slots when their plane used to operate BOH.

Good news about the progress with the terminal. I'm looking forward to flying through BOH in July when I'll try and get some pics.

Just what I took a couple of weeks ago.

I'm flying out on Tuesday to Carcassonne, so I will get some pics then.

I won't be able to post them until i get back at the weekend though!

Utterly amazed that Prestwick has gone though, given the state of that route just a little while ago. How hard can be to make it work?

Ryanair surely knew they were killing it and almost Edinburgh off as soon as they put the flight on so late. Surely these should be the bread and butter daily morning routes from BOH?

The Prestwick route is a mystery as to why its stopping although the biggest clue must be the time of the flights along with the Edinburgh routes are really poor and no good to anyone really

This is the problem with Ryanair at Bournemouth no time is given to develop a route ie . Beauvais , Wraclaw and now it looks like Turin and Milan are not showing up in the system for this winter having done ok last year ( these ski routes are on sale from other UK airports )

Hopefully Easy Jet may come in on some of these routes once the terminal is finished

Palmair are delaying the launch of there winter programme until July now , hopefully now the new aircraft is here with a much greater range they may well launch some new destinations ie . Cyprus or Egypt possibly ?

For those of you that keep asking about the framework, see the below (poor) image!

Yeh, going to have a nice terminal, however if we carry on the way in which we are going we won't have any passengers to fill it!!
