State Visit

Apparently MOL was at BOH today ! State Visit or collecting a Bag full of Paper ??

It would be a shame if they spent all that money on a Temp Airport, while the real thing was being built and no new business came through the door !

Still better off with a range of carriers rather than a monopoly of just one !

Surely Ryanair1 knows whats happening ??

And what is it exactly MOL would like BOH to "hopefully deliver" to him?? A huge concession no doubt that will give Ryanair another unfair advantage over the other operators. BOH would do everyone a great service if they stood up to MOL and charged him the same rates as everyone else and maintain an even playing field for all. If Ryanair backed out of BOH Easy and some of the others would soon come knocking on the door to fill the vacant apron space I'm sure!!
Stop bending over backwards (or is it forwards) for MOL, give him BOH T&C's and let him decide!!

strange rumour on Palmair thread that the contract has gone to Flybe and the 118 seater ERJ-195.

I find this hard to believe:

1) can the a/c reach TFS? HER? MLA?

2) whats happening to all the cabin staff who are employed directly by Palmair?

Hope someone can clarify. They should know now whats going on in April 09.

At the moment LS is flying with Palmair cabin crew in the back, some have been trained to operate a Jet2.com service some are not being used at the moment. Great bunch of people to work with and I hope they find a permanent provider of machinery as soon as possible.

Does anyone know why Crystal Ski / Thomson Ski are not operating next winter 2009 / 10 to Grenoble even though there is a spare Thomson Air 737 on the ground at the weekend
This would be the first time since 1993 that no ski charters have operated to France the only one so far confirmed is the Austrian Innsbruck charter on a Saturday morning with Inghams

Boh-edi

I see the morning flight to EDI has vanished from Ryanair's booking system, last flight is 28/3. It was there yesterday cuz I was about to book a whole bunch of flights with my new electron card that arrived this morning...

Anyone know if this is staying at x1 daily or are timetables about to shuffle with potentially of two more based planes about to arrive???

Ryanair

Considering they only carried 7,360 pax (41% Load) in Jan 09 on 2 flts per day i really doubt this would come back or be sustained as twice daily until economic crisis is over.

Palmair

Airliner world magazine has an article about FlyGlobeSpan winning the Palmair contract from April onwards with their B737-600. Palmair crews. It also says Palmair won best UK short haul airline for 2008 by magazine which?

..methinks the news editor(s) of that particular aviation publication have been paying too much attention to rumours on this website rather than being in possession of any specific facts regarding the Palmair contract and the destiny of the GSM B736.

Bournemouth handled 62 , 811 passengers in January down nearly 5 % on last Jan but a good set of figures and is one of the only airports in the UK to stay steady with passenger numbers not falling year round

Top performing routes were

Edinburgh 7307
Geneva 5973 ( Easy Jet )
Malaga 5606
Gerona 5303
Dublin 5178
Prestwick 4619
Tenerife 3928

The Edinburgh and Prestwick routes are back to 1 a day as there is no way they can substain 2 flights a day on a 189 seater jet but poor flight times in the summer might alter this especially the Edinburgh service
Geneva held up well as did Tenerife , Lanzarote , Las Palmas , Fuerteventura
with Thomson and Palmair
Barbados and La Romana also went out about 80 % full which is good news for the long haul side

Beauvais perfomed the worst but this is for the chop soon , shame as again bad flight times and not given much of a chance to perform

Yes, huge expansion since i was last through BOH. Must be about 5 extra portacabins now

The Ryanair flight I came back on (from Beauvais) seemed pretty full to me - probably about 75%. Seemed like a lot of school kids though so I don't know about loads during the rest of the week.

hopefully in a year's time those comments (although entertaining!!) will be a thing of the past. i hear things are on track with all the new development.

in terms of airlines i would have thought that at all airports in the UK its a case of battening down the hatches and weathering the storm. to emerge in better shape 2010.

The flight times are appalling for both PIK and EDI with 23:30 and 23:40 arrivals respectively. Those kill the "one night away" trips. You would have thought someone at Ryanair would have thought that through. Perhaps even EDI or PIK as an early morning with the other being a late. That would have given people some flexibility.

Looks like it is back to flybe out of SOU for me until RYR bring sensible times or the double daily back.
