Just to play devil's advocate...
The oil/gas industry is seeing pain and for an airline that has in the past been very Aberdeen focussed, this means a significant drop in revenue. Does anyone have credible alternate ideas as to how Eastern generate sone revenue apart from codesharing with Flybe ?

E170s to the islands?! Have they looked up the populations of those places?

To use that kind of capacity they'll have to be competing against the ferries, not just Loganair!

On weekdays, at least from what I can tell;

The LSI flights are all operated on an ABZ based E170 which operates W patterns to EDI & GLA in the middle of the day.

ABZ-LSI-ABZ-LSI-GLA-LSI-EDI-LSI-ABZ-LSI-ABZ

All other flights (ABZ-KOI, GLA-SYY, GLA-MAN) look to be on the J41.

ABZ - 1x E170, 1x J41
EDI - None
GLA - 2x J41

Helicopters

Any truth in the rumour that the helicopters for the rigs are returning to Humberside? Didn`t Eastern used to handle them, must be a few quid in it for them there.....

those long W patterns are a recipe for delays, especially for the last sector! Im not sure a Jetstream is particularly appealing....

DOOMED!!!

They have no crews to operate these routes. Just look at the frequency of cancelled on the ABZ departure board.

i predict EA and Flybe will regularly be having a scrap in the car park.

Eastern apparently leasing in a CRJ200 and a Jetstream 32 (yes, a 32) to operate some of the existing T3 network from September. Bet the DTVA regulars will love a J32 to Aberdeen - it'll be a real trip down memory lane.

Sorry are Eastern going to be a flybe franchise as per the flybe in flight mag or are they simply operating certain routes under a flybe franchise?

The latter, although the routes are mainly historical Loganair ones. Flybe had a hissy fit about the Loganair franchise not being renewed. Hence Eastern will use non Flybe branded aircraft to try and cherry pick certain routes.

It's the usual clever words, not false but not the whole picture.

Any idea why the T3 567 from Aberdeen to Wick was cancelled today?

Had to make a seven hour train journey instead.

Glorious weather at both places, no mention of EU261 (just a refund offered or road transport).

Today was also the day Christine Ourmieres from Flybe tweeted that she was flying to Sumburgh. On an Eastern Airways plane... maybe my one?!

Probably crew shortage, make sure you get your compensation from them.

Have the CAA signed off and approved the Canadian CRJ and crews on lease when there's UK capacity available?

Well, another flight to Wick cancelled today.

Usually the local media would be all over this. I certainly won't be relying on them again.

Good luck Flybe... you were worried about Loganair's stats?!
