Which Airfield ?

Flew from Spain to Luton the other day.
Right over central London. Buckingham Palace ,the Eye, the Dome all bathed in sunshine. Seemed a perfectly straight route to Luton, passed over a small airfield with what looked like mainly light private aircraft. Looked very smart and tidy and neat.

Iv'e searched my road atlas and I can't find any airfield in the line I think the plane flew. Where could it be please ?

Thanks.
I've checked the aerial photos of Panshanger and Stapleford and neither look anything like the airfield I saw.
Very odd. Maybe it is top secret and no-one should look at it.
Or if they do they should forget about it immediately

Judging by your route, what about North Weald?
Otherwise Elstree.

Isn't there an airfield directly under the 26 approach at LTN?

Forget the name and don't have a map handy

Have you tried re-tracing your route on Google Earth? That's answered quite a few questions for me in the past.

Maybe not quite on the route, but Denham, Wycombe, Blackbushe and Oxford are all in the vicinity.

Many thanks to all

Using aerobatics. org's aerial photos--or the ones I was allowed to look at without getting permission--I now realize my previous message was too hasty..

I am now pretty sure GolfCharlie got it spot on with Stapleford. My flight from Spain flew right along the line of hangers.

Not easy interpreting aerial photos is it........

How the hell do you guys find those tiny airfields especially in bad weather ?

I mean----Rushgreen for goodness sake. Amazing.

Using visual clues, motorways, rivers, towns or IFR. (I follow railways)
