Are they not just being transferred from the current SAS fleet, like the other part of the fleet was transferred to Cimber Air ?

It may turn out to have been an inspired choice, but in the meantime it's what Sir Humphrey would call a brave one...

Just to save you time:- "Fortune favours the bold", "Fortune favours the brave", "Fortune helps the brave", and "Fortune favours the strong" are common translations of the Latin proverb

Sometimes it does. And other times fortune ignores the brave. The graveyard of brave airlines is large.

That's why EasyJet and Ryanair are major airlines but AB2000 and Debonair aren't, and why Jet2 and Wizz exist but FlyGlobespan and SkyEurope don't.

Apparently VLM will only be operating LCY-Antwerp for WX from 25th March onwards. DOes anyone know if this is correct? All other flights will be RJ85s (and eventually SSJ100s). Can Antwerp handle an RJ85?

ANR can handle 737/319 if not going very far, the RJ85 is absolutely fine. It's more the limited demand that is a barrier to a bigger aircraft being used to LCY. The F50 is perfect.

F50 is fine... yes and no. The early morning flights from ANR to LCY and the evening flights from LCY to ANR are almost every day fully booked (even one week in advance). So last minute business passengers are no longer able to book these flights. And since last year demand from Antwerp Airport is growing again due to the expansion of the airport.

I think Cityjet should change to a RJ85 on the ANR route too. Two daily RJ85 morning and evening service Mon to Fri + once Sun would mean 1045 weekly seats (one way). Now with the F50 they offer 900 weekly seats (one way). So not a big change.

In between they can offer direct flights from ANR to Cork, Dublin, Avignon, Toulon...

I'm not sure that's right. Checking a few flights in April, I have yet to spot the RJ on that route. It's a different story for Rotterdam though where VLM is indeed no longer flying that route as of late March.

Thanks very mcuh This also explain why BE and the SEN ATR 72 only lasted 6 months on this route.

Makes sense, thanks very much

Sorry, I could have worded that clearer. Rotterdam will be entirely RJ85s from March 25th while Antwerp remains 100% F50, the last WX F50 route.

Does anyone know if just this route requires one or two aircraft?

In passenger service? If so, on what route?

Only 1 aircraft will be required to op LCY-ANR based on the schedule for June 2016

Best of luck to the new owners anyways and they've gone all out in terms of advertising for Dublin and cork to London constantly on radio and tv.

Cityjet has to be one of the most interesting airlines in terms of its history, struggles and strifes. Pat Byrne did an amazing job to keep the airline afloat in the past on many occasions, and the airline has stood the test of time from first it took off in January 1994, from its flirtations with Virgin Atlantic to Malmo Aviation and its cooperation with Aer Lingus on the various routes from Dublin and more recently to Air France and intro aviation.

Here is hoping that they can carve a sustainable niche for themselves for the future...

That would be very interesting to see happen alright, and if it did would it be a situation like loganair and bmi regional where the brand's remain or that all operations would change to a single brand, how aer lingus regional would work out would be interesting too, could we see cityjet operating for them yet.
