At €80 return, + €10 NOC departure fee, will they fill a F50 on NOC-DUB?

Also any plans for more routes out of NOC like GLA for Loganair?

Pretty sure the F50 for NOC is pants!

It'll be the SF340 GLA-DUB-NOC

Question Loganair & Dundee

Seeing as how they operate into just about every other airport in Scotland, how come Loganair don't go into Dundee?

Last time I flew into Dundee 2 weeks ago there was an airport there. Perhaps it's gone now though.

The Council, who own the airport, have business plans drawn up for several potential routes and airlines with equipment capable of flying from Dundee. I'm sure Loganair would be one of these airlines.

No takers yet however.

Excellent news Shedrule,no reason why DND can't join in the overall passenger growth in Scotland.

I notice biz movements are particularly healthy.

(Sorry for my 1st post,bit cheeky )

Sadly I won't be one of the 5000 or so travelling fans to Tannadice this weekend.

Probably new season, same old mince !

Least you can say you're the only top team in Dundee now...

shedrule,

It probably won't be worth the effort for 1 trip

Sorry couldn't help myself.

What are the facilities like at DND? I have only ever seen the airpot when on the train i think, doesn't really look like there is much too it?

Cheers

Its ok, one trip is still better than none

Facilities are ok, apron was recently extended and some flash new equipment bought.

The council certainly seem quite positive and are quite proactive about the airport, and ScotAirways apparently do quite well to LCY so could be worse, but then could be better

Would certainly seem to be potential for Scotair and/or Loganair to cautiously spread their wings to e.g

Manchester
Birmingham
Bristol
Southampton
Dublin
Belfast (BHD, of course)

Loganair have enough of a challenge coping with the existing network without taping into new routes.
Edinburgh probably serves the Dundee area well.
Dundee just a tad on the short side for unrestricted operations.

I'm sure Business Air(Euroair before them and Air Ecosse before them)tried a MAN service,as did Eastern more recently.

Surely must be a market for more DND services.

Did Euroair not fly to LHR in the 80s with a 757 oops I mean 748 ?

Eastern did MAN and pulled put more or less overnight IIRC. Business Air seemed to make it work ok before them.

Certainly scope for services to Belfast / Dublin (Flybe perhaps) as the two Uni's in Dundee is home to what seems like millions of Irish students during term time.

Went to Birmingham from EDI on Saturday and was more than half empty on the way down so doubt the demand is there from Dundee.

Biggest problems are its to small for Ryanair / Easyjets737's (can only get up to Bae 146's) and Dundee is, more or less, around and hour from the ABZ, EDI and GLA airports so they are not a hassle to travel to.

I have used the airport on many occasions and dearly hope for a route expansion,I once flew on the ill fated eastern servcie and quite enjoyed it the main reeason I saw foe the failure was the ticketing done by BMI i Man. the only time I used the servcie Eastern kept telling Me that there were seats available and BMI kept saying it was full apparently this happened a lot and subsequently put pax off travelling with Them with subsequent loss of revenue.

Sure some services used to drop in on the way to / from ABZ as well, cant think of too many reasons why that may not be viable on some services.

There is defiantely an airport in Dundee have flow from it with Scotairways to London City Airport, i also live under the landing path of the airport.
There is also a summer saturday service to Jersey with Brymon, im not sure who does it now, ive a feeling it may VLM, and these flights have been operated for at least the past 10 years, see Dundee - Jersey. There was also as some have said the Business Air flights to Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Manchester, which eventually were operated by British Midland. There was also the short lived Eastern Airways flight to Manchester.
Also for one summer season back around 1997 there was a Dundee to Majorca flight which operated i think from memory via BOH with a Flightline BAe146.

Dundee Airport
Runway
BA Dash 8
Scotairways Do328

I did DND ~ EDI at some point in the summer of 1998. It was a company called Business Air, as I recall, who had just been bought by BD. It was a Saab 340 and an 11 minute hop. The flight had come from ABZ (again, if memory serves) and was continuing down to MAN. The flight was VERY expensive about £50 for the single but was the only way to get quickly between the two places when needed.

A grand little airport and still there when I looked out of the train window last Friday on my way from EDI to ABZ by GNER.
