Loganair's 2 based d328 at NWI havent had the best start, apparently at least 2 aircraft have had tech issues in the last 3 days as tonight they are having to sub the EDI flight with a 4th d328, as 2 aircraft are tech at NWI with only 1 working G-BWWT, hope they all get sorted as loads on the Edinburgh route have started off in the high 20's over last few days

Wonder if Saab 2000s nos.2 and 3 will get the new livery, or is it actually just a special?

Report on BBC website about Loganair possibly ditching the Twin Otter and the Govt tendering for aircraft on Barra, Campbeltown and Tiree routes.
While BBC journalists often endeavour to get the info around a story, being generalists rather than aviation specialists, they don't always get it right.

I expect people reading this thread have a much better idea of the intricacies and nuances behind this story. Would someone care to share their knowledge on this ?

Tried asking a Viking guy at FAB the status of Twin Otter replacements at Loganair. Predictably he gave nothing away but got the feeling that they'd already done their pitch and didn't get anywhere. Could be wrong though.

It's hardly a secret, been in the planning stage for years, Scottish Government will purchase (or lease) 2 Viking twotters and the successful pfo bidder gets to operate them. Good to see our tax dollars swelling the coffers of little airlines, not. The whole issue of air services to the isles needs looking at, too few islanders have too much say over a service which costs millions. Fast ferries were the answer around 15 years ago until the islanders started sounding off...

I heard those reports too Leg, but nothing has come of them. No order, no LOI, nothing.

Any information when and how the new Flybe livery will arrive at Loganair? From a brand/franchising perspective, I am sure flybe requires all franchisees to adopt the updated corporate identity at some point. Not sure if it will look good on "stubby" aircraft types such as the Twotter or the Saab 340.....

Loganair

I'm sure Flybe will be more concerned with its own fleet first rather than any of its franchise partners

A franchisee usually has to take care of that himself, so there is nothing Flybe has to be concerned about other than hinting at the contract that requires the franchisee to use its branding.
