One can only hope that there will be a whole lot less of the barriers in the immigration hall sending you & your fellow passengers back and forth across half the width of the room like a flock of barely controlled sheep being herded together to be dipped, wormed, sheared and bred to the ram.
Having thought about it now there are some similarities betwen being a sheep & queueing for immigration...............
Online article (can't remember which one) mentions that EDI are to have talks to establish a Dubai service. I am sure it was Dubai specific rather than Middle East but could be wrong.
Flybe not going anywhere they have a contract with Menzies and it has at least another year to run.
They are very happy with the service at Edi and may well even extend the contract before it should expire.
Alba only handle one airline at EDI globespan . nuff said.

Good afternoon Davy...
I think the point was probably raised due ALBA handling Flybe at GLA. Can't see it myself, but, you never know. Stranger things have happened !
I'll ask the missis !! (She's Supv at EDI.....)
Nice to see the re-jigged lounge starting to open up at last. Wetherspoons seemed to be largely ready on Friday and the first part of the lounge extension (incl. the new duty free) was open this morning. Heck, even the new galleries lounge looks like it might be ready to start getting fitted out!
i would be good to see a middle east destantion direct from EDI one slight snag might be the lack off large aircraft stands at edi since only stand 2 & 3 are only one's that have jettys and can walk to imagration and the other large stands needing the passangers to be bussed round.
Its good to see the first stage of the building work open. just wish they would increase the size of the check in area and baggage reclaim
QR were due to announce two new European destinations back in the summer but it has all gone suspiciously quiet since then......I reckon EDI has a good chance as EK cover the same market QR would be chsing from other UK regional airports. Having said that BHX has been upgraded to twice daily 777 to DXB and is still (on many dates) selling out so maybe there is enough business from there for QR to compete
Edinburgh is just not built for long haul. Although dating from only 1977, they never dreamed that the building would have to deal with this amount of traffic. The expansion has been a typical BAA compromise. A small and friendly airportbuilt with public money, with views outside from landside, facilities for meeters and greeters, space was sold to a private company and flogged off by the government. Now I'm not a socialist but what did the BAA do?
They built loads of shops, removed any landside facilities, discouraged any meeters and greeters and built new facilities bolted onto the exisiting structure where possible. The result is a faceless human processing factory with lots of shops designed to part you from your money. it is NOT a pleasure to use and any future expansion is going to involve more bits added on willy nilly. The expansion of Ryanair will only strive to reign in airport improvements as they won't intend to pay for it!
I honestly think that airport and railway infrastructure, certainly in our main cities ought to have some degree of public ownership / investment. Looking at Glasgow and Edinburgh now, they've taken some decent little airports, made a lot of money and still left us with terminals that in Glasgow's case, isn't much younger than LHR T2 which is rightly being flattened. Eastern pier anyone? It's a joke!
You can't get a pint into a half pint pot. I never thought I'd say this, but I am now convinced that a proper new Central Scotland facility is the best thing which of course we can't afford now ! Arrgh!
Skipness One Echo.
Sorry I cannot agree. Edinburgh is near enough Scotlands central airport, the shops are excellent as are the eating facilities. Meeting and Greeting is easy and straightforward. Edinburgh is a pleasure to use. I have friends from New York who say the same, it is their preferred entry into the UK. It will continue to grow and improve, helped by Ryanair and others, who provide an ever growing list of destinations, e.g Finland announced this week.
