KABO Air

KABO first delayed payment for months and then blown it of completely for Hajj flying 2012. 7 of the original 744 guys have been effected. Now they are looking for new crews to avoid having contact with their current crews. Beware.

kabo air

is it the airline based in Nigeria?

ZAZOO 16th Jan 2013 07:25

Avianaut did you folks make a complain to the NCAA. If not I suggest you file a report making a serious complain to the governing body about this issue.

I see this as very serious and a terrible act by the airline. They should pay all they owe you and in arrears too.

I know this suggestion might look like an endless road witb no results but i do recommend all of you come together if you can and file individual complaints and despatch by registered courrier to the Director General himself.

Kabo bought a former Corsair 744, but defaulted on payment to the lender and the repair station that was doing the heavy check. I think the plane did receive a "5N" registration, but it is probably in legal limbo awaiting action by the banks involved.

Kabo has always had a bad reputation for paying crew.....even in years when they were profitable. Because of this they've been unable to recruit 742 cockpit crews from the Western world. Kabo's crews last season came mostly from Iran and Indonesia.

Kabo is having severe financial problems now and most of their Hajj flights were contracted out this past season. They have shrunk dramatically in the past few years and I don't know how much longer they can survive.

please don't wait a minute longer detail all your complain to the Director General of NCAA or the Director consumer protection of the Authority.

Just read:

"Document mixup prevents Kabo Air 747 from operating Biman Hajj flight
Kabo Air (N9, Kano) has come under pressure from the Bangladeshi press after its B747-400, 5N-MDK (msn 26878), on lease to Biman Bangladesh Airlines (BG, Dhaka) for Hajj operations, was grounded in Dhaka by the General Authority of Civil Aviation of Saudi Arabia (GACA) on its maiden Hajj flight. According to Bangladesh's BDNews24, the aircraft had not obtained GACA approval because the authority reportedly considered it "too old". 5N-MDK is 20.5 years old. As a result of the grounding, Biman was forced to use its own B777-300(ER) which took off for Jeddah with 419 pilgrims on Saturday leaving 163 pilgrims stranded. Said Biman's CEO, Kevin Steele, "Kabo should have cleared this much earlier with the authorities." Kabo Air's representative in Dhaka, Iftekharul Alam, alleged that Biman authorities were responsible for the delay in getting permission to fly the wet-leased aircraft. He claimed that he had sent all the requisite documents to Biman’s Jeddah office through Biman’s flight control centre in Dhaka "at least 25 days ago". The Jeddah office was supposed to forward the application to the GACA through the General Sales Agents (GSA), but it could not do so as the GSA had not had its license renewed, he claimed. An inquest committee comprising officials from the Bangladeshi Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh has been set up to investigate the debacle. "

KABO Air

Heard a Kabo Air 747 took out the ILS at Sokoto and blew some tyres?

Sounds like a landing incident then.
