Oh Dear,

That's another 757 for saucepans then. Reports suggest crew are in hospital but doing OK. It appears no fire.

Quite a bit of damage for a runway departure on the grass.

Might be a lot more going on here

We flew in that area the day after the crash and the viz was between 800-1000m. Did the non precision approach into Cotonou and saw the approach lights at minima (R/W 06).

There is a serious dust storm blowing through that area and I'm sure the bad viz. played a part in the crash.

saskatoon9999 cargo liberation

Hehe! Yes it happned to th first Lagos bound Kenya Airways 733 on a pax flight.a tre log was placed to block the plane taxiing I..and before you know it baggage doors opened and pilferage operation in full swing! Same hapened on a 707 London bound at the same Airport at tve holding pint before departure.ATC communication either couldn't be established or ..God knows where! When you secure the plane..ensure the probe covers are secured into a nearby panel...they can also vanish ..."gone with the changing winds of Africa!"

Not at all. I lived in Cantonments until recently, and when driving along Giffard Road, you could see people climbing back and forth over the wall at the southern end of the airfield. Secure it ain't!
