Ebola affecting aviation?
For all of you who activly fly in Africa, are you seeing any change in air travel because of Ebola? Any precautions being taken? Any countries that you no longer fly in to (I assume no flight to or from Liberia)??

yes it is restricting commercial ops, based in Equatorial Guinea where there is no Ebola the government has placed various preventive measures on routes and passengers who can enter the country on certain routes we carry a nurse on board for pre temperature screening prior boarding this is after pax screening at check-in on previous travel so to avoid cross border travel from restricted country

Just flew into Nairobi , they have a big time consuming health screening for anybody ' in Kenya for more than an hour ' . Filling the form is tedious enough but when they are down to one nurse to check temps of 100+ pax , tempers get a little frayed for those on tight domestic connections , especially at 0430 !

My father-in-law lives in a village in Kenya.
They aren't too concerned there, but then he has a farm, and chickens, and a storehouse of beans and rice.
They will be able to isolate themselves for a period of time should it come through the area.

West Africa Aviation - Ebola
West African charter operations are still running out in the affected countries. We are running operations based in Ghana up and down to Sierra Leone and Liberia weekly for Mining and Oil companies with no problems up to now.
Just the Airliners that have been affected mainly.
We still go through the thorough screening processes for each passenger. I think as soon as there are cases found in bordering countries if it gets there all aviation in and out will be restricted.

Interesting they have broadly said Congo, and didn't specify Republic of Congo (Brazzaville) or Democratic Republic of Congo (Kinshasa). The latter has a few cases of an unrelated strain, while the former has no ebola.

Guinea. It is a country in it's own right. The capital city is Conakry, and it has been at the centre of the Ebola outbreak.

Ebola has HELPED aviation in Africa. Just as all wars and political strife seem to do on the continent. Interesting enough though, a certain Sub-Saharan nation now asks if you've been to the U.S. or Thpain in the previous 21 days.
