Air Nigeria long haul,

Air Nigeria plans to resume long haul operations this year has hit the rocks.
No one seems to be willing to lease either A340 or 330 to this Nigerian carrier, as Air France and others have backed out of the promise to provide aircraft for the airline,
Rumours has it that VS, either cos of self preservation or anger over it's relationship with the new owner of VK that has gone sour, put out the word and provided evidence of several defaults on the part of VK to meet it's various obligations.
This is not hard to believe as VK is currently down to less than half of it's fleet of aircrafts, due to maintenace issues and aircrafts out on C checks without returning, late salaries etc,
Some of these operators think they're pretty smart, not knowing that what goes round comes round like the case of Bellview metamorphousising to First Nation without taking care of it's obligations, and now having to park three A320's on the ramp for several months without flying, accumulating huge debts.

VS might have done them a big favour, saving them from imminent collapse. Enough of the small men with big egos. Big J is a classic example.

Fola A...

Heard from Air Nigeria crew this afternoon that Uncle Fola has resigned from Air Nigeria.....Is this True...If so thats really very sad news.

Also noticed a couple of names of Captains and F/O's from Air Nigeria on the next training batch list on our side. Looks like they gonna loose a couple of guys this time around. Did notice some of them were still flying for them but I gather they just waitin for sim dates.

Whats going on guy's why did Fola A. leave, and if he resigned why did Jimoh let him go. Anybody from that corner of the airfield with some answers here.

Absolutely right. But it was resign or be fired.
Shows how ruthless JI can be. I knew and respected this director while I was still at VK before pulling out when the 340s' went back to VS, and if JI can treat someone as accommodating and patient as Capt. Fola like this, then all hope is lost.
Vk's situation is actually worse than Arik's or any other airline in that part of the world right now cos while others realise the impending crew shortage and are planning a better renumeration package to keep current crews and even attract more from outside, the last thing on VK manager's mind is to approach JI to ask for any increase to current salaries/allowances, even though, to the best of my knowledge. no review has taken place in 4 years.
Everyone seems to be scared stiff and ib dread of the man, so I predict planes will be parked on the ramp in the near future due to lack of flight crew to fly them, especially captains.

Well thats quite some bad news from that side of the ramp and not what most of us down here want to hear. The guys at the helm of affairs better take a deep breath and brave it with Mr Jimoh, cos if they expect to still have their jobs in place they have to have flightcrew to fly them planes. This whole thing works both ways believe me....

We are fast approaching that time of the year when the movement of people around the country brings out the biggest challenge for our airlines but on the other hand pays well also and it would not pay Air Nigeria not to be able to participate in that season due to the above mentioned issues.

Well you guys hang in there but remember the grass is not always greener on the other side
