surelynot,

You can read the article below, which was published on 2 January, in:

The News:

By Oluwole Adeboye

Unidentified gunmen have killed an expatriate and his personal driver in Ikoyi area of Lagos. The victim, Aria Hugo, an Argentine, was a staff of Iberia Airline and until his tragic death lived at 31, Hughes Avenue, Ikoyi, Lagos. His Nigerian driver, Ifeanyi Gabriel, suffered the same fate.

P.M.News learnt this morning that Hugo was in the back seat of his jeep on Anthony Bridge, along the Oshodi-Gbagada expressway when five armed men, in a desperate move to snatch the jeep, shot both Ifeanyi and his boss at close range.

However, when they saw a police patrol vehicle, they fled the scene in a Land Cruiser jeep that they had snatched from another motorist.

They abandoned the Toyota Camry saloon car they had driven in to the scene of the dastardly act.

As at the time of filing this report, the corpse of Hugo has been deposited at the Ikoyi Military Hospital, while that of Gabriel was taken to the morgue of the General Hospital, Marina, Lagos.

This was not a random car-jacking gone bad, but a targeted killing...

Murder of expat in Lagos.

Few weeks ago I was informed that one spanish citizen working for Iberia in Lagos was killed inside the car, after non stopping in a police control:

Is that right? police control or just thieves?

I'd like also to know the present day situation in Lagos, I've been contacted by an airline to work there in few weeks. How is pilot life in that country? it is safe to work there?
I never been in Nigeria, so that's why I'm asking.

Thank you, I would appreciate your information

If you are desperate and got nothing else to go to, then I suggest give it a go, with extreme care.

Not desperate? Then don't go.

I'm hesitant to say much more becuase I did not know him or the situation, the specific circumstances behind his death, nor do I want to ruin his reputation, but I have heard from reliable sources familiar with the situation that he was involved in some serious, illegal activities, and the murder was result of a bad "business" deal, not a random petty crime gone bad.
