According to www.african-aviation.com, the aircraft was operated by Africa One airlines:

Plane crashes in Kinshasa

Russian-made cargo plane with 17 people on board crashed in a crowded neighbourhood of Kinshasa, DR of Congo's capital , airport officials and witnesses said. The Antonov aircraft belongs to congolese airline Africa 1. A large explosion followed the crash, and United Nations spokeman said it fears many people are dead.
Africa 1airline is on the List of airlines banned within the EU that was updated on 11/09/2007. Find more about the list at: Airlines banned within the EU

Reports all on board dead and almost certainly further casualties on the ground.
Very sad.

AN26

Is that the same type that was parked on the grass at Brakpan in the '90's ?

Looks like it was built to fly forever.
