As for doing Weight and Balance/Performance calculations.....most aircraft charts either have a Conversion Table or have both C and F Indexes on the Chart.
Have you read the Gimli Glider Cause?
It was excactly a mix up between kg, gallons and the conversionfactors, which led to the gliding landing....
It's all fine if everything runs smoothly- but when the stress sets in an the holes in the cheese start to line up, it could be an advantage to have some holes removed in advance....
