Would the pinger from the recorder be picked up by a warships asdic set or is it a different ball game?
Not likely. ASDIC is soooooooo last century. Modern naval forces tend to use SONAR.
SONAR on warships would have a low probability of detecting that pinger. See a few dozen posts covering "why" earlier in the thread. Short answer: frequency band and range.
