We're not allowed to accept tips. If a customer wants to give a top I usually suggest they put it into the charity envelope and let it go to good use.

I've had a customer buy me a watch at which point I had to say no thank you.

A thank you letter really does go down well in my outfit. We're all about customer excellence and these all go onto our files for recognition when it comes to development as crew.

In terms of working in First, it's something that you do once you pass your first class training. In some cases it's actually easier than working down the back as the passengers generally just sleep. You don't get paid any more or less than the rest of the crew on the flight though.

And if you feel that we've done a superb job then please don't tip us. We really are just doing our jobs
