Overseas PPL Recognition

Hi PPruners,

A few years ago, I went to the USA and was going to hire & fly a GA Plane, after I followed these steps outlined on the FAA website:

1. Getting a letter sent to me from CASA, outlining my Qualifications, Medical etc.
2. Then forwarding that letter to the FAA with an application form.
3. Getting a letter back from the FAA stating all is well.
4. Then I had to attend an FAA field office, pay a hefty fee, and walk out with a US FAA Airman's Certificate.

I got up to step 4, but unfortunately, there was an emergency back home, and I had to cut my trip short, and didn't get to attend the FAA office.

Now I want to do the same next year, but in the UK. It seems a lot harder to find the information about the UK regulations on this, and was wondering if anyone had ever done this in the UK and could shed some light on what is needed?

Cheers
