I would also be sceptical about Mel crew being culled. Not sure about Dom, but half their LH flights are cross crewed with Syd at great expense. Unless they close the base completely I think they are fine.
GS is super exciting, but also a bit wanky in regards to "Go Team". When you get on line you'll figure it out for yourself. And hopefully love it!
