RAT 5, just out of interest which A/C type are you flying?
The only reason I ask is years ago on my first wide body (A330) during a strong crosswind T/O I did the technique you describe, it was all going perfectly until just prior to lift off when there was a sudden vibration and shuddering of the A/C, the Capt put it down to easing off the rudder and allowing the A/C to weathercock into wind while the main wheels were still on the runway as they were effectively now scrubbing on a dry grooved runway, he said its better on wet slippery runways but didn't recommend the technique and from that day I believed him.
