Question Eurofighter Landing at GLA

Hi. I'm not in the aviation business, but thought someone here might be able to shed some light on a strange sight I witnessed.

I live under the NE approach to Glasgow Airport, and yesterday (05.01.12) around lunchtime I witnessed a Eurofighter overhead. It was going pretty slow, then extended its gear. I assume it was landing at the airport.

I've never witnessed any military aircraft heading to the airport before, apart from the odd Chinook. I've certainly never seen any fighter/bomber aircraft. Having said that, I did hear what sounded like a military jet passing overhead, perhaps within the past 2 weeks. In complete layman’s terms, I've always maintained you need some kind of super-special clearance to even cross commercial flight-paths.

Anyway, there is a scheduled Emirates flight due in around the same time, which on the day followed the Eurofighter by about 15 minutes. Coincidence?

I did a google search for a snippet of news, but it's either hush-hush, or not worth mentioning the event.

Anyone got any idea what went on yesterday?
