You may jest, but:
The last BA LHR Flt Ops centre before T5 was the open plan Compass Centre AKA The Bouncy Castle, The Compost Centre etc. etc.
The stairs were suspended open plan with no risers and glass treads.
I understand that they were originally fully transparent but, by the time I moved there, the lower faces had been frosted.
Of course, as a gentleman, one would have kept one's eyes below the horizontal
