Having never owned an aircraft, I cannot comment on costs.
However the Cessna 150 aerobatics are less than enjoyable, and very limited. And I will never spend another single dollar renting one with the intention of aerobatting.
The Citabria is an all round great builder of skills, and much more capable, and nicer to fly.
