There's no doubting the psychological element in enjoying Champagne, with a beautiful view, pleasant company and accommodating weather, it is the nectar of the gods. That said some of it really is just fizzy wine. I went through a stage of only buying or purloining Cava, which if you get the right one is pretty darned good.
