A Singapore Cargo captain (with a family) total package (expat) is worth about the same as an EK copilot so unless you're desperate to get out of the ME there's no use heading for Singapore.
And for commuting... The rosters change on a daily basis and you have very expensive staff travel so it's very difficult. There are some who do it but they get very few days at home. Most of the guys that commutes have left for Korean or ANA.
