You are not alone. Let's face it, it has been dreamed up by a mindless channel for an entertainment 'stunt' for the unwashed masses of oafs who can guffaw to their hearts content about it in the pub after checking their lottery tickets on a Saturday night. That is the extent of the 'science' involved- any talk of 'scientific analysis' is simply whitewashing something that will have the entertainment value of Big Brother and to which we will be doomed to seeing in excerpt form for the rest of our lives....constantly.
But it is a non-starter. Having an unmanned 747 flying around the skies out of radio control contact is mind-boggling. We don't even have yet reliable radio control for models, and as for fitting up a 747 for UAV operation- they have no idea of the cost, which will hopefully stymy this daft project. Should they ever persuade 2 pilots to be daft enough to go up in the thing to bale out, it is overwhelmingly likely they will rightfully die in the attempt, either sucked into an engine or killed by the wing or tailplane. Sorry- this one isn't going to see the light of day!
