Feels like Third Gear coming into land
When coming into land, it sometimes feels as if the pilot has increased thrust, maybe about a minute before we touch down. There is increased noise and vibration, but also a feeling of increased control. A bit like changing down from 5th gear to 3rd gear in a car when coming to a junction; i.e. getting ready to slow down to a stop, but also the possibility of getting out of trouble by accelerating away quickly.
I realise the comparison is not ideal, but what is actually happening?
