May 09 Pax numbers
Over 80,000 handled for May 09 down 18% on LY. This is a slower reduction than April 09. Plus flight reductions reduced by 24.1% but pax down 18% so sounds like load factors have remained steady - although that reduction in flights is probably largely due to the withdrawal of Blue Islands. What is concerning are the new routes by Ryanair. Limoges only handled 1,500 pax compared to the discontinued Nantes that handled 2,500 LY May. Why does Ryanair persist in trying routes from BOH that only a handful of people want rather than the obvious ones that are still low hanging fruit waiting to be picked?
Exeter handled the same pax numbers as BOH in May 09 and Southampton handled double - 160,000. Given EXT's catchment area they are doing very well. BOH should be handling more pax than EXT.
