Instead of moaning about how awfully reluctant Lufthansa mainline pilots are to getting screwed over again and again, we should really ask ourselves why all majors still use the anachronistic practice to mandate fluency in any other language than English. Ridiculous if you ask me and would definitely open up the job market to a much wider community. The present situation really defies the whole reason behind a common JAA license.
