The drops are for something completely different to the (air blow test) used for taking pressures. I'm guessing the drops you are referring to are for dialating the individual.
Which is fairgame... eurocontrol can choose to proform whatever test they deem fit for sponsorship (its there money after all).. even if that test is pointless to the field of career e.g. sperm count, knowledge of pokemon, cage combat skills etc.
