Hmm..
Right, you are aware what is normally on the D drive of an Acer laptop? The recovery disk!! and unless you've got a dual layer burner, the contents are larger than a standard DVD. This is why Acer (normally) do not supply system OS disks, but prompt you to create a bootable recovery disk which then re-installs from D. So the first thing you should do is create a mirror of D and store it somewhere, delete the partition and reformat the disk completely and start again.
Seems a lot of hard work...
Ps stand to be corrected, but I've had to install new OS in 2 machines for people who deleted D
