The RAF SeaKing was returning from a boat rescue having already dropped the injured crewman off at hospital when the crew were lazered. The culprit was located and confirmed using the FLIR camera then followed. The Police were summoned via a phone patch to the nearest officer’s mobile phone on Marine Band VHF (FM) courtesy of the Coast Guard. The officer was successfully ‘talked onto’ the culprit who, by this time, had parked up and walked to the entrance of a nearby shop. The officer apprehended the culprit and found said laser during a search.
