It's not acceptable for either pilot to be filming during takeoff or landing. Anyone that says otherwise really should examine whether they should be doing the job at all. There are innumerable ocurrences that will develop more rapidly than the ability to "drop the camera" and deal with it. Flying is a serious business and that's why we train so rigorously, analyse our actions, refine our knowledge and conduct ourselves professionally. We're rightly trusted by the passengers and crew.

Don't dumb it down guys, there are plenty that will do that for you.

"So Mrs Bloggs, for the benefit of the jury, did your husband often take a camera to work? I wonder what exactly he was doing when the engine failed at V1 and the captain as pilot flying experienced mild incapacitation?"
