The beauty of McCain's Palin gambit is that the more she is discredited for lack of experience and qualifications, the more it reflects on Obama's dearth of the same. It may be a checkmate, and to date it appears to have put Obama's campaign on its heels with no effective response.

The Democratic party has long drawn from identity politics and demonization for its strength. Now it has to attack a woman who has breathtakingly become America's most popular politician. They're in a very tough spot and don't know how to handle it, yet.

I can see why McCain had that Cheshire cat grin on his face when he introduced her in Dayton just a few weeks ago. Was he wiley enough to have known this would happen?

Did you hear about Joe Biden, recognizing his 'old friend' and asking him to stand and take a bow for the audience, forgetting his 'old friend' was confined to a wheelchair. Why isn't this on every news outlet's front page as Biden's 'potatoe' moment?
