Perhaps your source is on the sauce. 10,000 people represents close to 33% of the QF workforce, according to page 47 of the QF Fact File (
http://www.qantas.com.au/infodetail/about/FactFiles.pdf).
Can't see how shedding 33% of the workforce will help with service delivery, on time performance, or even getting into the air.
