Close to the "HauptBahnhof" (main train station downtown) 15 minutes train ride from airport - go to the "Baseler Eck" restaurant - about 3 blocks away from the station. All crews eat there. Walls covered with decals and pictures of long time gone era, and airlines... Was the PanAm "operations office" from the late 1940s, (Berlin Airlift days) until 1991... Went there last in 2006 again, nothing had changed. Still great food (home style cooking, sauerkraut is excellent, affordable). Enjoy a glass of white Rhein wine, and indulge yourself to a free schnaps after dinner, offered by the owner to aircrews who identify theirselves.
