Are you using Firefox 2 or 3?
I'm using 2, and the Adobe updater assures me I'm using the latest version, which, in my case is 9.0.124.
Should the method above work (you may need to click on a warning at the top of the browser window re installing a plug-in) be sure to uninstall the old version first using
this uninstaller.
