In the one you label as flying past Buraimi, I can clearly recognise the rocky spine that extends from Jebel Haffit, just by the modern city of Al Ain, where I lived for 4 years and that I still visit regularly.
As you know, I shall be up at Saiq in a few days to commemorate 50 years since Owen Watkinson's Venom crashed up there (
http://www.pprune.org/aviation-histo...years-ago.html). I shall try to locate the site of the old airstrip, which must be very close to the crash site.
