I'm not a pilot but if the aircraft has a rapid decompression the pilots would have make a rapid descent to around 10,000ft - Mount Everest is the highest point, and according to Wikipedia it stands at 29,114ft!
Therefore if anything like that happens, you're not going to be able to descend to the altitude you need to be at - If you tried you'd crash into the Himalayas.
