dontdoit old chap, please don't make it more complicated than it really is, a DF steer and any "subsystem" (
) can also work on an additional frequency, a practice PAN on the emergency frequency is ridiculous IMO.
By the way the DF has the comm panel as any other controller position, select the frequency you want and bingo.
