Dicksorchard,
Well said. The LCCs do give a good service - on-time record is generally better than the majors and price is obviously the big factor.
However, I must say that the BA crews that I've flown with as a pax have been outstanding - friendly, competent and efficient and as an aside, the best pilot PA announcements that I've ever heard. I presume that they do some training in this area? In any case, I hope they never lose this. And I use both LCCs and full-service carriers regularly.
Don't knock either end of the business. Easy and Ryan have opened doors for pilots who would never have got a look in at the majors in the past. Most use the LCCs to get their experience and then move on. I reckon that there are many many more pilot jobs in the world than there were in the pre-deregulation days. The pilot wins, the LCCs win and the majors later get very good pilots for free! There will always be room for both LCC and full-service carriers.
