Me Myself,

I am English, not French. French is my second language. Thus my French grammar is far from perfect as you point out, just as your own English grammar is far from perfect (I have read your English postings elsewhere).

The fact that you apparently got level 6 in the DGAC English test is further proof that the DGAC English test is not apt to judge the ICAO English levels. It is quite evident from reading your written English that your spoken English would also be flawed and would not meet the requirements for level 6.

The principal problem with the DGAC English test is that it conducted partly in French. For example, in the first part of the test, all the multiple-choice questions are in French. I had no difficulty at all understanding the English texts, but lost a lot of time studying the French questions, hence ran out of time. In the second part of the test (listening comprehension) I again understood all of the recordings. However, I made the error of correcting the poor grammar of some of the american pilots, hence I lost marks. This did not, in any way whatsoever, change my comprehension of what they said. I was thus just penalised for using correct UK English spelling and grammar. Finally, in the third part of the test (vol fictif), I scored 20/20, as it was conducted entirely in English, with a native English speaker.

Incidentally, the fact that I got 20/20 in the "vol fictif" shows that there is absolutely nothing wrong with my r/t as you tried to claim earlier.

Clearly the DGAC need to have a short test that is easy to run and administer, and the test that they have at the moment is a first attempt to meet this goal. However, it is clearly not able to distinguish in its current format between level 5 and level 6 speakers of English. The fact that you apparently got level 6, and I received level 5, is proof that it is not apt at the moment.

I have made this posting to constructively show that the DGAC English test, as it stands at the moment, is inadequate. You responded with a crowing reply that there was obviously something wrong with my r/t. I think that it is you who needs to "grow up", not me.
