Yes there are plans to link the airport directly to the A338, in the latest Master Plan on the Bournemouth website there is a route to the north of the runway that connects directly to the A338 by passing just to the south of the Matchams Ski Centre. However, the route is marked as "Safeguarded corridor for future A338 link" so I'm unsure of actual timescales.
There are also four areas marked as junction improvements, namely Parley Traffic lights, Chappel Gate roundabout, the main airport junction and the small Hurn roundabout at the end of the B3073
.

Agree with you about getting out of the airport when it's busy though, total nightmare at times espically between 4 and 6pm when if you live locally, occasionally it's quicker to walk

The last Air Berlin I saw come in was D-ABKA, a nice new 737-82R but that was a few weeks ago. Sure someone else will tell you if it's a regular visitor.
