whether my points hold up or not is irrelevant, they are the reasons the airport authority gives for decisions on diversions, i don't necessarily agree with them. as i said before perhaps someone from servisair can expand on it.
as eurostar builder says, there are other organisations on the north side of the airfield, ids for example,one problem is that the airport used to just say, ''yeah,let them come'' and often handling etc would be done by the a.f.s(no longer allowed),also,many aircraft that diverted in had their pax stuck on board for long periods(leading to complaints from pax,airlines etc).so for good or bad, the reasons i initially stated are now 'policy'
as i said, i don't necessarily think they are right or won't change as the airport grows
