Bournemouth Diversion Policy?
Does anybody know what the current policy at Bournemouth - Hurn airport is regarding diversions?
I ask because despite clear blue skies today and empty apron/taxiways Bournemouth was turning away diversions with the reason being the Airport was full!
Surely if Bournemouth would like to encourage new operators especially now that they have been granted money to improve facilities this policy is as good as stabbing themselves in the back with regards to future growth.
Bring back the good old days were it wasn't unusual to see numerous airliners (once there were 42 on the ground at one time) sat on the ground after diverting in. As i type this I hear a citation currently sat in the hold above Southampton being refused permission to land at Hurn and trying to find an airport elsewhere that is open and will accept him.
Lets hope that as part of the improvement process they replace the current management with people who have an interest in seeing the airport grow.
