Don't know about the PFL.....A couple of students of a friend of mine did a dirty dive from CTA into YSRI claiming (to him later) rough running. They did not contact anyone before landing (imagine what went on in the tower when they caught sight of a rogue Cherokee dodging herky birds hehe).
It turned out they did not lean the mixture when they got to altitude. My mate was bailed up for about an hour and a half trying to get them out of there.
Chances are, if this guy has come round to the eastern side of BK (presumably from the training area) to land with downwind on 29
he would have muffed the PFL even worse.
Surely no instructor would just sit there and stare.....wonder if he has a job anymore?
