Wasn't there a Air Safety Foundation experiment that showed that 9 out of 10 pilots could not handle an engine failure on T/O ?
Only the just trained "survived" the experiment.
This showed a more reliable powerplant is more important than two engines.
This is why the Adam Aircraft A500 (piston) is build with symetric trust, and the A700 (jet) not.
